Abstract:

Burrowing through soil This is a summary of an investigation about biological entities and how they traverse soil. We have performed mathematical modeling and tests to study the way in which roots traverse soil. The motivation for this work is to learn from roots burrowing through granular media-soil- and study their technique for potential use in manmade diggers.
