Title: Basin Volumes on the Density Landscape : Basin Profile Function Approach

Author (Talk): Ashwin Selvarajan Sampangiraj, Yale University

Abstract:

We calculate the volumes of basins of attraction for mechanically stable packings for a generation protocol in which the system starts with zero packing fraction and goes the closest local minimum on the density landscape. We study the so called basin profile function for the 2D binary soft discs. The basin profile function, is the radially symmetric function whose integral gives the probability of a getting to a given jammed state. We study the general behavior of the function by computing it for several distinct jammed structures. We show that the probability contribution comes from the asymptotic region of the basin profile function.
